Engines Fired by Coal

In his new political science treatise ("Don't Vote - It Just Encourages the Bastards"), P.J. O'Rourke says, "There are 1.3 billion people in China, and they all want a Buick." Patronage? Oh Dear!

Patronage. Oh, dear. Kids are so naive! They imagine they can busk on the sidewalk forever, and live off tips. What is their plan for purchasing a car to drive to work, a home, kids’ clothing, food? I mean, seriously. We can’t have a world where all the creators, all the writers, artists, designers who have to interpet things all have to live off tip jars, waiting like poor starving artists for their patrons, having to paint rich fat ladies instead of cathedral ceilings because they can’t find patrons for what they want to do. - via a comment by Prokofy Neva
